Indigenous themed retro SS and classical

I've not posted one for a while, so here's two!

Both in blackwood and Lutz, both slot heads, both with an indigenous themed rosette. I tried Schallers on the SS after a twenty year holiday from the brand. Similar to Waverlys, but Gotohs will still remain my go-to tuners. The classical has an open pore hard shellac finish on the body, full gloss nitro on the neck. The SS is high gloss nitro all over. That high figure blackwood is yet more great wood from Pete McCurly.

I like the rosette design and timber used. Another great guitar!

Over the last few months I have purchased a couple of Blackwood Back & sides sets from Curly Pete and they look amazing. Looking forward to building some guitars with these sets.

A lovely pair Trevor! The rosettes look great, and really capture the aesthetic that you were after. What did you use for the inner ring material? I tried a similar thing with rings cut rom a West Australian grass tree that has really interesting porous texture to the trunk and great patterning. It was really soft but looked great, and firmed up well when infused with epoxy. But then I had to abandon using it when I discovered that I was horendously allergic to it (the tree, not the epoxy). I have huge tree ferns growing along a creek in my back yard (and I am sure they are around your area too), and I have often imagined one of them might end up in a rosette one day.

Thanks, all, for the kind words.

It's palm. It came from the guy next door who had to take some trees down. Sorry, I don't know exactly what type of palm. I think all the trees that came down were the same, but there are lots of different colours available depending on where you cut the piece from. The useful wood dries out really hard, so no need to soak in epoxy/CA etc.. Only the outer 40mm or so is of any use. The rest is just soft and stringy.

Here's another. All natural colours...

Whatever your objectives were when you built this pair Trevor you definitely achieved them. They look exceptional and no doubt sound as good as they look, very well done.
