Flamenco guitar... Fe17 shape, Santos bracing. It was quite challenging to get the action and bridge to the right height, but got there in the end. Still largely 'in the white'. No finish on back, sides or neck yet, just some super glue on the back and sides to fill pores. One coat of osmo on the soundboard.

Very nice Pete, imagine what the b/s will look like under a finish they look great already.

Looks cool low sheen as is. Good use of traditional Torres Rossette, I've used that a couple times too but not the purfling to match, it looks good though. Sides look quite deep for a flamenco, what's the depth? Ebony binding? Tricky to bend without cracks hey.

Yes ebony bindings and yes did have to make a couple extra! Worth it though... I love the look of ebony bindings. For the purflings I had to handcut the last few mm for the with a gramil as my router bearing wasn't small enough. Turns out its not very difficult, quite quick and results in zero tear out... Might be a convert to that method.

Osmo - search for Osmo Polyx. It's an oil hardwax finish.. low toxicity (food grade) and super easy to apply. Just put it on and wipe it off 10 minutes later. Then do another coat if needed.

Beautiful timber. The back and sides are eye catching and gives it an appealing style.

It varies, usually shallower for cypress than Rosewood. I've Seen as low as 82mm to 87mm, giving great bounce between back and top, pumping out heaps of air through sound hole. Your photo just looked wider than I thought. It all depends on wood thickness too.

What timber did you use for back and sides?

Sorry forgot to mention it! Blackwood back and sides, Engelmann spruce soundboard, ebony bindings, Qld maple neck

Thanks Martin. no, haven't put any of my guitars up for sale yet. I *might* have my first commission though ..a muso friend seems pretty keen on a classical build.

You guy are seriously luck to have that blackwood available. I keep seeing pics of it from Trevor to a half dozen other makers and I love it.

And that is one seriously nice looking giutar.
