Bunch a babies! It's 50 in my kitchen every night. Makes 38 at home seem like a winter's day

Mornings are very pleasant at around 23, tho. Not dry enough to work outside of box, sadly. Prepping stuff.....
I wish I was half the man my dog thinks I am....

It's been so freaking hot and humid this last week, I can hardly bear to go out to the workshop after work. I've got a lot of fuss custom builds to do, but I'm a bit worried that if my head aint right cause of the conditions, I'll stuff something up. Maybe I'm getting smarter in my older age, or perhaps the heat really is getting to me.

I had a week in Broome on cyclone evacuation. Temps in the high 30's and humidity at close to 100%....thank god for beer. With three rig crews in town Matsos Brewery and The Roebuck Tavern were close to running out of beer.

The Swiss claim this is beneficial for you! Mind you, I bet there's a few Aussie firefighters wouldn't mind doing that right about now! My hat's off (the guy above has everything off to them!) to those guys they're doing a fantastic job in very trying conditions. :cl :cl :cl :cl :cl

Now 'that' is a tough one. Work in a stink'in hot shed raining sweat and swear words on everything I go near..or, sit back on me arse sucking sweet juicy chilled flesh from fresh caught blue manna crabs and drink'in the occasional ice cold beer as I slave my way through my favourite playlists??...Hmmmm I'd best go knock the top off another frosty cherub while I contemplate.

After all, with everything in the universe seemingly linked the way it is we don't want to rush into these things as the consequences could be horrible. Yep, a man needs time to consider 'all' the possibilities...cause any single one of em could be that triggering domino that fucks up what could have been an excellent day for ones spiritual development and its too late to be thinking you should have let sleeping dogs lay once they all start to tumble...

Indeed Nick the firies are a special breed and the rest of the community would be buggered without them.

Anyhow, back to my contemplation...not having much luck though. I'll push on on my own but reckon this one may require a convention to produce anything useful but that won't stop me from attempting to resolve the problem single handed...its just the way I am.

2013 ANZLF convention
Place- Finnegans Hotel (only because it sounds like they might have Guiness on tap for Bob and those of us that appreciate fine ales)
21-23 Darby st

Timetable-to be run over 5 days

Day1- extensive discussions on "Should we have a 'standardised' convention beer or everybody just go with the piss of their choice over the 5 days.
This workshop would include full tastings of all the fermented brews available in order to ascertain whether a consensus of opinion can indeed be
reached or whether it will be a futile exercise.
Meal supplied by "Theo's shark and tatties"....better have a beer or two to wash it down.
A special treat for convention Participants is an appearance by Kylie who will give us a toon or two then will be going on to play serving wench for us
Image

She's a good sport :D
Day 2- Roundtable discussions on the benefits of solid/laminated linings over reverse or conventionally kerfed.Followed by followup informal one to one
discussions over a few ice colds. Your barmaid for this event will be Linda
Image

Meal today will be Pie & chips, with a few cold ones to wash it down.
Day 3- Convention participants will be invited to show everybody else their best wood with a brief presentation as to the superiority of their wood when in final
use. Copius Beer and chips will be available at the lounge bar should participants feel the need to partake.
Your Barmaid for this event will be Sandra

Day 4- Workshops will be held today on "the best utilisation of shed space", a presentation by Taffy & "the best way to use up those wood scraps" will be a
joint presentation by Taffy & Bill.

Image

and Helga will be serving
Image

Meals supplied by The golden Eagle chinese restaurant for those wishing the more traditional asian fare or for those wanting more a sophisticated
experience, Theo's will be once again available.
Day 5- Wrap up by Il duce (Bob) then off for a sampling of all the other hotels & bars that Newcastle has to offer culminating in a fine dining experience at
Luigi's pizzeria (they
even have table cloths!) where a selection of fine wines will also be available for those that couldn't drink another drop.
Lucy Helen & Suzy will be serving your beers for you

or for those wishing to imbibe in wine, Julia will be available to take your order.

Thought 5 days would be long enough to having a crack at drink Newcastle dry, right before our kidney's pack up.
Don't forget there's evenings as well for the social side of it, can't be serious learning all the time Tod

You know, I could not help but notice, Sandra has big, er, huge, um, I mean enormous [______________.] <--- I want to make sure I put the correct word in there, as I know that you Southern Hemisphericals have your very own special words. I will get out my trusty Americenglish to Aussi-Kiwi to Americenglish translation guide book and look up the word I'm thinking of.

Ah yes, here it is: "earrings." She had better watch out or her lobes may start to sag (though I suspect it will be a couple of decades before anyone notices.)

Cheers! :D

Dennis

p.s. Still hot as hell there? We are having the most bizarre and protracted winter here. It's late April (think late October for you), and should be "spring" and we still have nearly 2 feet of snow cover. By this time last year, I had already planted part of my garden. We have had 25" of snow in April alone... and tonight, we are supposed to get another 4" to 8."

Extremes of weather suck, and I don't know which is worse: freezing my ass off, or sweating my ass off.

I know, I know... I used some Americenglish terms. You'll have to translate "ass" and "inches", and if you get stuck, ask Sandra.
