Cant edit my posts, topics and replies

Post by mickeyj4j » Sat Mar 15, 2014 2:15 pm

i have started a topic here and i notice i can't edit the topic or any replies.
I have used this same forum engine that this forum has on other forums places i use and can easily edit posts. what is different about the luthiers forum would love to be able to edit thing incase i need to add stuff or change what was said.

so could someone please help me out on this.

it is a good idea to be able to edit posts any time to make amendments to them when things are going on. I like to amend the first original topic with the relevant info kind of like a best answer. its ok if these forums block editing posts i just wonder why that is all.

Unfortunately in the past a few idiots have spoilt it for the rest so editing options were restricted. If you make lots of mistakes then I suggest you jot up your post on notepad and then when youre happy with it post it on the forum. If you want something changed in a post then contact one of the mods/admins.

Yeah the problem we had was with people spitting the dummy for whatever and then going through and deleting all their posts from the past which I'm sure you can appreciate, can then destroy the continuity of discussion for entire threads.

IIRC, Bob set the editing window for members to about 5 min, after that the post is automatically locked in as is.

Cheers

Yes it was 5 minutes Kim.

I've just increased that to 15 minutes.

You will get used to 15 minutes, or 5 minutes, or even zero minutes editing time. Little by little posts about lutherie related topics will get more important, and posts about editing time will seem insignificant to you. Right now you are at 50% for each, if you answer to my remarks before you write something else on the ANZLF, you increase that ratio to 4:3 in favor of the editing time posts.

There have been many times that Markus has asked me to fix things in his posts and I've been only too happy to oblige. Same goes for anyone on the forum.

In fact I quite often fix peoples typos without prompting.

Bob forgot to mention that he expects a cold one for each typo he is fixing.
This is what I owe him so far (horses not included):

Bob's beer
(Don't miss the TV advertising here - it features some spruce logs and what I believe is didgeridoo sound)

:gui

P.S.
"Feldschlösschen", if translated literally to English would mean "Little Castle of/in the field" and is the name of a Swiss brewery located not too far from where I live.

I never have seen it or searched for it, well... I didn't know it exists...
But I think it should be around if it is famous.

When I want a blonde beer I just have some Swiss beer, and when I want a dark beer I usually reach for one of these:

Haha Martin, If you find yourself overseas you should try it (you can try it in Aus but it's like $7 for a tiny 330 ml bottle or $142 a slab)...

Markus, I'm truly jealous of some of the interesting beers practically at your doorstep (well a good 7-10 hour drive).

As for Stout, I musn't have enough chest hair or something because the darkest I can go is a Pale Ale.

Or does the chest hair come with drinking stout? Maybe I have it all backwards...

They never asked me for chest hair when buying Stout.

But if they do so in Australia you might try this:
