Nothing much going on in here so I will point you all in the direction of an amazing guitar player I had the privilege of seeing live at the weekend.

I struggle with posting you tube links.... I hope this works.

Do yourself a favour and get a cup of coffee and take 15 minutes out of your busy day to see why we all like making guitars so much. Because this is what they can do in the hands of a master. Not bad for 23!

Assume she is playing something made by an Ozzie luthier?? Anyone know who?

Richard thanks a lot for that. She is really good.

I loved her Bach. Her technique is so good that she can concentrate on the structure of the piece, and to my ears at least played it wonderfully. Reliable playing sounds a bit pedestrian but for pieces like that I think that's what you really need to bring the beauty out. Not too much melodrama but a real attention to the detail that Bach actually wrote, which some nominally good players skip over.

I shall keep an eye out for her.

Thanks Richard, a thoroughly enjoyable 20 minutes looking through her channel. It's been years since I've listened to Classical Guitar, I'd forgotten how, when well played, beautiful and tender the instrument can be. :cl :cl
And just to make me even more depressed about my lack of playing talent, she's no slouch with a Saxophone in her hands either! Some people are just gifted.

Gifted indeed but clearly works very hard at her craft. I bought her cd and asked if there was a secret to playing that many notes without a buzz. Predictably, she said "practice"

Very inspiring, I had to pick up my guitar and play something when I got home to see if I could play anything without any mistakes.....I need to practice more!

Dave, couldn't agree more. The first piece she played was a Bach suite. He's my favourite composer and it was wonderful to hear. I had to shut my eyes because watching her fingers was so mesmerising I couldn't concentrate on the music. My teacher describes Bach pieces as being like getting on a bus. Once you are on you have to keep going, there's no getting off and having a breather between stops. Her timing was rock solid but everything was beautifully phrased.

A complete class act. I hope she prospers. I hope I get to see her again soon.

Thanks Richard for posting the great video of Stephanie. The following link
is to an interview with her, in it she says her guitar is a 2012 Paul Sheridan.

Thanks Bruce, I looked up Paul Sheridan and sent him an email saying how impressed I was.
Nice Bach piece on the untitled page of his site played on one of his guitars.
Cheers

Indeed, talent is only one part of the equation. A friend of mine is a drummer (drummer for the NZ Navy band) and he just blows my mind everytime he sits down behind a kit but even before he joined the Navy, he thought nothing of playing/practicing at least six hours a day and sometimes just working on one lick for four of those. I don't think I've got that much dedication! :(
