Post by steve roberts » Sat Nov 03, 2012 11:56 am

Hi Trevor
I am building my first (live backed ) medium body steel string guitar
I have bolted on the neck and doubled sided taped on the bridge and tested freqancies
TI 95.8
T2main top 179.6
T3 main back 222.9 if i am inturpriting the book corectly these numbers sound ok.
Qusetion is do i leave it at that or do play with the back brace to improve T3
Regards Steve

They all look pretty good to me. If anything, the back could be a touch stiffer, but you should be OK as it is. Things might change a bit when you put a finish on, but how much and in which direction is down to your finish schedule. Thin finishes, especially shellac ones, can actually stiffen things up. Put too much on and the mass effect of the finish begins to dominate.
