Radial back braces for live backs

Post by JamesO » Fri Dec 18, 2015 6:04 am

Howdy guys

Getting ready to brace up a back. In Fig. 11-3 (Build), the radial braces are 115mm long, 50mm from the center of the third ladder brace, and according to the text on pg 11-7, should end about 10-15mm from the inside edge of the linings.

So, should I make the brace however long it needs to be so that it starts 50mm from the center of the transverse and ends 10-15mm from the inside edge of the liners, or should I made it 115mm long regardless, position it so that it ends 10-15mm from the inside edge of the liners, and the distance from the inside end of the brace and the centerline ends up being whatever it is?

I vary the brace length commensurate with the width of the box. I start the brace ~50mm from the center and end it ~20mm from the inside of the linings, measured along the line of the brace. Then the brace is whatever length it turns out to be. It's not a critical dimension.
