Carbon Fiber Sheet on Bridge Plate

Post by RonRapp » Tue Mar 19, 2019 12:31 am

Trevor,
I was wondering why you put the carbon fiber sheet between the bridge plate and the top plate, rather than on the outside of the bridge plate...seems like it would be helpful to increase the distance between the two layers of carbon fiber (ie: in the bridge sandwich)?

Also, since in my case, the bridge plate is already installed...do you see any issues with putting a layer of carbon fiber on the face? This will be a dreadnought, flatpicking guitar...

Thanks in advance,
Ron Rapp

There are all sorts of arguments one could put up about whether the wood should be above or below the carbon, or even whether it need be there at all. The first time I did it, I did it as per the book, and it worked well, so I stayed with it.

If you put the carbon on top, let us know how it goes. Some people leave it out all together, but also seem to end up with a lower T(1,1)2 than I get, which is not surprising.
