Equ. 4.5-1 and Equ. 4.5-2

Post by Bruce McC » Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:41 am

Hi

In the Design volume (first edition) at pg 4-58 Young's modulus along the grain is given by equation 4.5-1.
Then on page 4-59 this equation is reduced to equation 4.5-2, which contains a value of 0.94625. My question is how was this
value calculated? Using equation 4.5-1 and the average figure of 0.02 for the product VLCVCL I do not get 0.94625.

Bruce, check out this post: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3626#p43983 . The error is small and fixed in the second edition.
