Help in Sydney? Experienced wood expert needed...
Need a favour...
Ive found what I believe is the MOTHER LOAD of Brazilian Rosewood... except, photos don't look quite right.
It looks a bit more like Mahogany to me, but they swear its rosewood, purchased in the 60's.
It's a vast quantity, and a considerable amount of money. I need someone in Sydney who can identify the species to confirm. Unfortunately, the sellers cannot provide a decent photo (very elderly seller).
If it is what they say it is, you'll be rewarded with enough to last a very long time.
I suspect you'll be there for an hour or two, confirming dimensions, if it's the real deal.
If it is Mahogany, we will be taking it anyway (and have others that have already claimed the rest), but obviously not in the same the quantities. But if its the holy grail, the entire lot is ours and we are happy to pass on some of the booty

BRW often smells like dogshit. Check also for small worm holes.

Dogshit and worms??? Sounds like a job for a veterinarian!!!
I have heard that BR smells more like a rose...unless "Rose" was the dog's name...
This might help, from the wood database:

Worm holes? Hopefully there is a load of BR at the end of the worm hole in a parallel universe! He can keep the doggy doo!

Mmm, I have been caught out like that before. Got excited when told it was very definitely a big old rosewood plank, but it turned out to be NSW Rosewood or Rose Mahogany (Dysoxylum fraserianum) when I got to see it. Fortunately no money changed hands. If it looks like mahogany, I would guess NSW Rosewood which I believe is a member of the mahogany family. Good luck.

Should have added 'be happy to pick up a sample and send it to you Perry'. My travels take me all over Sydney and Central and Central Coast.
