Thermochromatic paint
Thermochromatic paint
This one was finished yesterday, first time I have ever painted this stuff, huge learning curve, it’s actually a pigment you add to the clear coats, problem is it sprays like an underbody car spray, so really gritty, if you sand the pigments in the clear smooth, it stays permanently Grey, so you have to apply copious amounts of clear and try to level the surface flat using just the clear coats, huge learning curve....
First photo, cold under 30 degrees body Second photo, add some warmth to it like out in the sun or your hands and it goes white

Very interesting - but I am not sure what to do with this information! What is the usual application for this paint? On an instrument it would be an interesting novelty but it is hard to predict how the thing is going to look when being played.

That is exactly what the customer was after, something that would be transitioning in colour whilst on stage
