Western Red Cedar & Indian Rosewood dread

Post by demonx » Wed Jan 17, 2018 1:05 pm

This one is easily the best sounding acoustic I've made to date. There's still a few little things which I'm still fine tuning and getting the hang of with acoustic building, however each one just gets better and better!

Specs:
Western Red Cedar top with Indian Rosewood back & sides
Macassar Ebony Fingerboard and bridge
Black Limba neck
Flame Maple rosette
K&K Pure Mini Pickup
25.4" scale, 20" radius with 20 frets (evo gold)

Looks amazing! That black limba neck looks especially stunning. How do you like the 20 radius on the neck?
Cheers

Thanks!

20" radius feels natural. I guess it feels right to me as my all my other acoustic builds are 20" and my other Acoustic made by someone else which I use as a benchmark to try teach towards is also 20", so it just feels standard to me.

The Black Limba wasn't actually planned, I wanted Mahogany on this one however the day I went to start the neck my never ending Mahogany stash decided to run out and my large Mahogany purchase last year isn't quite at usable moisture levels yet, so I searched through the racks for something with similar specs to Mahogany and that's how it happened.

Looks fantastic, especially that neck. What finish have you used? Wish mine ended up that shiny...

Very nice!
It's funny that you used the limba for the neck as your mahogany wasn't seasoned enough. This just added to the originallity of the look of the instrument, a plus in my eyes.👍
