B/wood parlour

Post by 56nortondomy » Sun Nov 04, 2018 8:30 pm

I've just finished this guitar, a parlour size made from another great set of b/wood from Pete plenty of figure in it, the Huon top is also from Pete. Mahogany neck, EIRW f/b and bridge, jarrah bindings on the body and b/w bindings on the f/b. I used off cuts for the rosette and h/stock veneer. Hard shellac finish. Grover tuners. Sounds great I'm a bit of a Huon fan now, this is about the 4th time I've used it.

Nice! How is the armrest attached, magnetised? Also, the endgraft is interesting with the asymmetrical end to the sides and with an ebony inlay. I feel like there is a story there. Anyhoo, very nice instrument :cl :cl

Thanks guys. You’re on the ball Trent, I cut one of the sides to a wrong pencil line which left the side about 20mm short so I widened the tail block and did a bit of creative work with the end graft normally I use a piece of bindings but couldn’t this time, nice pick up lol. Wayne

We all make mistakes I don't mind owning up ( when I get caught out  ) . The arm rest is glued on Trent.

I am sure we all make 'em and have that sinking feeling as you realise you have two treble sides or compensated nut I made on the weekend
turns out to be left-handed  . But I also feel this is a safe place amongst peers where it is ok to talk about them and what you did to recover.

Good recovery by the way!

Thanks Jim, I quite like the Huon. I think it sounds great maybe not quite as bright as spruce a little more mellow. I’m currently building a selmer that has a Huon top, owners request be interesting to see what it sounds like it has BRW b/s. Wayne

Hi Wayne,
I hope you don't mind me harping back to the earlier comments but........

Here's one that I had to "adjust" :D

I love what you've done .........
Gives me inspiration for all my future re-adjustments.
Cheers

No problem Pat, like I've said quite a few times, we all make stuff ups, there's usually some way around them ( maybe not every time ), gives the brain some exercise trying to figure out a solution ( after the initial swearing and cursing  ).
