Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
I am but a humble and inspired Git that loves to have a go at instrument making.
I go on one particular model and that is the Martin 0 series Soprano Ukulele.
All my tools and jigs are orientated to make this one instrument as it is close to my heart.
I have limited funds and facilities due to my meagre pensions so please excuse my excuses!
Today " The Books " arrived which will take another dimension.
Oh Wow what Brilliance in their writing...BIG WOW TREVOR!
I know nothing but want to share my achievements with you so you can advise me how to improve.
So here goes with some shots of what I am up to....,( if you are interested?)
Have a lovely day all.
Pete.

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
Sorry I have tried to edit these so the BBC code automatically shows the image.
It does not do so as with other forums so I welcome advice on how to improve this.

Hi Pete, I'm no expert on ukes but the bridge patch looks really big, how thick is it? Just my observation. ( not a criticism ).

Pete, it's a lot easier if you upload your pics directly to the forum rather than via an image service.

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
Tomorrow when it is daylight I will post a few pics of my Soprano Ukulele bridge clamp made on the cheap and avoiding StewMac with the postage.
Bridge clamps ( to my mind ) come in as expensive and then I have to gamble if they 'd fit.
This bugger "Does fit" and is made specifically and designed to fit only the Uke I am interested in.
Hey Ho !
Catch you all in the morrow.

Wayne.
My bridge clamp is 2mm thick as per the drawing.
Is this too thick do you think?

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
Looks thicker in the photo Pete, 2mm should be ok. When you want to add a photo go under the dialogue box click on attachments you should be able to work the rest out, just remember they have to be under a certain size. I resize mine with a program called fotosizer it's free and easy to use.Wayne
Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
Yep...another one bites the dust.
I work entirely from a Samsung S9 but it does not come up with the same prompts.
Pressed the " add image "...fine.
I go to my " my files " and add image...fine.
I bluish box appears which indicates the image being loaded...fine.
Then I have tried to drag and drop it in the text box. ...no luck.
Then tried to " copy " and paste into the text box...no luck.

Re: Bushwhacker Ukulele builds.
Thank you that you like my circle cutter.
I am on a new build now.
I have used the Martin soprano crucial measurements but Brought the bouts in and made it more slender and Nunes style.
I used Polycarbonate to make the template and hardwood for the mould.I really like this shape.
All spars, and the sound hole are marked.
I like the old fashioned way these Ukes were made.
Slotted necks laid flat on the board which I have not made yet
The line of the finger board and top cannot be anything other than bang on straight..
The more I look at it the more I like the shape and it is "My " shape which I find exciting.
It is also allbut the old cremonese way of making violins.
I plan to do some modifications to the build but the old system will still prevail.
The second pic will show how I have varied from the Martin.
The Helmholtz thingey should be about the same.
More about that later.
No....Now!....as an experiment I blew across the sound hole and a definate note was there. ( with my almost finished Martin copy Uke!.)
With a guitar of course being larger this would be difficult.
But the " note " was definately there.
Anyway here we go if your interested.
