Well i don't know but i might take the record for the slowest build of an instrument, started this one about 13 months ago, needless to say the customer is very patient.
Anyways The 17" arch top has figured maple B+S, Sitka spruce belly, Qld Maple neck, IRW fingerboard, Jarrah binding and headplates, Seymour Duncan pickup, Schatten vol and tone controls, Schaller tuners, finished in Mirotone nitro.
Cheers,,
Rod.

Steve and Allen thanks for that<< but seriously though this build was doing my head in, because i took so long on the build i think i lost touch a bit and started making little mistakes, only small things but enough to piss you off, even at the last minute i was having to cover my tracks, but i got there in the end hooray :dri :dri :dri :dri :dri :dri :dri :dri

Yes Stu this is the same, although the dovetail is a very good, strong joint and i was quite happy to continue using it as an effective means of the construction, i'm glad i took the step out of my comfort zone and made this little transition, besides the obvious maintenance practicalities it gives the builder better access to the intersection to allow more even finishing.

Absolutely gorgeous Rod. As others .... In awe of that.
For my own interest, did you bind the F holes ? It's not obvious from the images - just looks like a super clean line.

Anyway superb and thanks for sharing. :cl

Ah, that's what it is. The F holes looked unbound from the top, but I could have sworn it was a black inner edge from the close ups.
Anyway - love it. Sure the new owner will be stoked, personally I'm not sure I'd have let it go

Some builds are like that, especially when you can immerse yourself in it and get it done relatively quickly you can get very connected to them, this one has taken forever because of family stuff and my work so it became a bit of a pain in the arse, but at the same time i'm happy with it and proud of the result.

May I ask Rod, what kind of paint did you use, and how did you prepare the edge that the paint would no bleed into the grain?

Markus, i sealed the edge and around the F holes withe a couple of good coats hard shellac and then i used some black tinted shellac to colour the edge.
