What the f*%K is wrong with these people (bureaucrats) when a local council gives the go ahead to fell a perfectly healthy 500 year old Kauri and a 300 year old Rimu just so that a couple of houses can be built?!! and I believe where the Kauri is situated isn't even within the house's foundation area, it's where the planned deck is going to go! Disgusting, shame on the Auckland Council!
"Auckland Council west resource consent manger David Oakhill said resource consent had been granted for two houses to be built on the site, which meant some trees needed to be removed."
Some trees? Those trees have been there longer than us white fellas!! If they are cut down then the biggest branch of Kauri should be found, sharpened, greased and shoved up the council's arse, then stood upright ala Shaka Zulu!

Obviously Mr. David Oakhill got this one terribly wrong, he actually wanted to say: "[...] which meant Auckland Council must be removed".Nick wrote:[...] "Auckland Council west resource consent manger David Oakhill said resource consent had been granted for two houses to be built on the site, which meant some trees needed to be removed."

Bleedin' developers and yeah, I'm sure there's quite a few willing to rubber stamp the application in exchange for a bag of shekels.kiwigeo wrote:Sounds like someone's got mates on the council....

As a non-newzealander I had to listen to this twice:
"We don't want a 500 year old Kauri to be cut down for a [...]" ...for a what??? Ah, for a deck. But of course she is right in any case!

Haha, yeah "Deck" could get a little lost in Ky-Why translationcharangohabsburg wrote:As a non-newzealander I had to listen to this twice:

Although this guy sounds more South African than Ky-Why at times, that's what happens when an Aussie tries to imitate the accent.
On the good news front, the property owners who are both Architects, have said that the trees will now both remain and they'll rethink their design, however other trees may need to be removed, not sure what trees they are but are not OLD trees! At least Madness hasn't got a complete foothold!
