Hi Everybody,
This is my first guitar, finished setting it up last night and spent a couple of very pleasurable hours playing it. What an amazing feeling to sit down and play your first guitar!
It's a 000-12 from stewmac plans with a few slight tweaks of my own.
Bunya top and braces
Silky oak back, sides, rosette and headplate
She-oak fretboard and bridge
Vic Ash neck
Blackwood and Vic Ash binding
Solid Paulownia linings
French polished!
I'm really happy with the way it sounds and plays but I'm hardly objective.... I might try and put a sound clip up soon and get some feedback.
I haven't done any classes or had a mentor for this build- consequently this forum (and Mr Robbie O Brien's videos) has been instrumental ( ) in making this achievable for me. Thanks to everyone for the generosity with your time and expertise!

Well done Jim A first and completely solo build is very impressive. Have you shortened the scale length?

Well done Jim! The guitar looks great with the Aussie wood.

Thanks Wayne and Trent,
It's Martin long scale 25.34. The tweaks were the solid lining and also I went with a 1 11/16 nut size and 2 3/16 bridge spacing.

Re: First Guitar Finished
Great job Jim. The french polish finiishing looks great, and the aussie timbers theme is really good. Are you planning number two already?
Re: First Guitar Finished
Thanks Mark,
Number two is actually about a week away from being posted on here- built them as a pair- this one is all blackwood.
Number 3 and 4 are on the way too- had so many little bottlenecks building jigs or buying/making tools whilst making the first two I got the boxes on the next two closed while it's still winter and dry enough to do it.
